Here’s an instant classic for a pole barn! Customers love Lean To Roofs and we love to build them! The standard pitch on a building is a 4/12 so Lean To Roofs are typically (but not always) about half of that – in this case – 2/12. That way you can still have some height to park whatever it is that you’re wanting to park under it. Plus it just looks cooler that way 😉 It’s our standard practice to cover the outside header with siding to give it a finished appearance. This one doesn’t have it, but we do a LOT of metal ceilings under Lean To roofs if you want a total finish look.
Take note of the site work done for this particular job. It was obviously built on an area with a great deal of slope to it. There’s a good 4′ of fill on the one corner, tapering back up to the original grade. When preparing for your building, you want to make sure you have at least 3′ (and preferably 4′ or 5′) of level area around the building. So in this case, the building size including the lean to is 40′ x 32′. The area prepared for the building should be 48′ by 40′. This one’s pretty close and obviously this homeowner still has more to do to get the site to where it needs to be, but we can’t stress enough that a properly prepared site is the key to a smooth build.
